And if I have an expulsion order, can I still apply?
Yes, if you have an expulsion order you can still present your case as a victim of gender-violence in a court of law. Once declared, the expulsion order will be stopped and you will receive a provisional permit for one year until the court has made a final decision. If the final judgment is positive, the expulsion order will be suspended and you will be granted a 5-year residence permit. On the other side, if the final judgment is negative, they will reopen the expulsion order.

Can I get a residence and work permit if I am a victim of trafficking?

Being a victim of trafficking can also be a valid reason for obtaining a residence permit. In order to do this, you need to press official charges with the police and give information about your exploiters to the police. The police need to confirm that you are indeed a victim of human trafficking. There are organisations that support women in these situations. You can get in touch with them if you don't want to speak to the police.

If you are in danger of deportation it is very important to inform your lawyer if you are pregnant because this can protect you against deportation.
